Jim's blog

Admn: Might overhaul site

I'm thinking of overhauling this site. Drupal is a bit much for what we're doing. I'll probably switch to Wordpress like all my other sites (the wedding and RunawayJim.org). It's much easier to deal with comments and stuff and since we're just using this as a blog, it doesn't really matter.

Pictures!

Pictures from our honeymoon as well as our wedding are up. Click on the Photo Album link to the left.

Our Wedding Was Perfect!!!

Our wedding was absolutely fabulous (and one of the best weddings I've been to if I may say so myself). The Biltmore did an absolutely fantastic job with everything, to the point where we feel we got a great deal on everything. The staff were awesome, the vendors were awesome. Everything was just as we could have ever hoped. If you're getting married in Providence, go with the Biltmore, Anthony Crocenzi for your DJ, Krista Handfield for your photographer, Golden Gate for your florist, 5 Star Limo, and Scialo Bros. for your cake. You won't regret it.

Honeymoon Tales

I've been writing about our honeymoon in Vermont on my other blog, RunawayJim.org. Feel free to head on over and have a little read. I'm up to Day 2. I'll try to post an update when I write more (which might be later tonight so I can get the whole thing done before I head to Canada for ResNet 2008).

And so it begins...

All the craziness that surrounds a wedding has begun. My wedding vacation begins tomorrow with lots of running around doing errands. Should be a blast. It hasn't even phased me that we're getting married on Saturday (and probably won't until the rehearsal). Part of me can't wait for the ceremony and formalities of the reception to be over so I can just relax and have fun... and I can't wait to get to Vermont!

We're going to Vermont for our Honeymoon

We finally picked a honeymoon location (after going through like 10 different possibilities and ruling each one out mainly for monetary reasons). We're going to spend a few days in Stowe, VT. While it's mainly a ski town (the resort is on Vermont's highest peak, Mount Mansfield). There's a small town and it's within an hour of the other touristy areas of the state (40 min from Burlington, an hour from St. Johnsbury, an hour from St. Albans, 15 min from Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerry, etc). It's also got one of the best brewpubs in town and Waterbury has another.

We Joined a Gym!

Last week, we took a tour and spoke with someone at Davol Fitness and Spa in Davol Square in Providence. The gym is really nice and at their "busiest", it's not really that busy. We went last night to start a trial and I really enjoyed it. This was a good decision, so long as we keep it up.

Happy New Year!

Need I say more?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday.

Finished our registry

We finished our wedding registry. If you're interested, we're registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Crate and Barrel.

Started our Registry

We started our wedding registry last weekend and hope to have it almost finalized this coming weekend. Information about it should be available on our wedding site by Thanksgiving, so check often for updates.

Walk the IWay

Susan and I were one of the first 10,000 people to traverse the new Interstate 195 "IWay" bridge this past Saturday. We took some pictures of the experience. It was pretty cool to see the city from that location and the bridge is just awesome. Apparently, at 4 lanes in each direction, the bridge is the world's widest network arch bridge.

Attacked by Kozmo

I'm beginning to think Kozmo is a bit bi-polar. He gets in these weird moods where he pulls his ears back, arches his back, and likes to attack or bounce around on his tippy toes. Last night I was sitting watching TV, minding my own business with the cat sitting next to me, and he arches his back and gets in a mood. Instead of hopping around like a wacko, he decided to attack my face and gave me a nice gash under my eye. I'm lucky he didn't hit my eye, but I can't put my contacts in because it's so close to my eye. I was ready to kill him.

Waterfire was fun!

James, Kristi, Phil, Jen, and Chris all came down from the Boston area on Saturday for Waterfire. We went to dinner at Cuban Revolution and then headed over to the river for Waterfire. It was a lot of fun. I snapped some pics from the Basin bridge with my camera-phone. For the little 1.3 MP camera and me holding it, they came out pretty well if you ask me. I think the phone has image stabilization built in.

Wedding was fun!

So we got back early this afternoon after attending my cousin's wedding in New Hampshire. It was at Searle's Castle in Windham. The wedding was beautiful and the weather couldn't have been better (though slightly warmer would've been nice). The rain had stopped and the sky cleared right before the ceremony started. After a fun reception (where the beer flowed like wine, at least in my case) we headed to Margarita's across the street from the hotel we were staying at (and in another hotel) for some more drinks.
